A licence is needed to handle them. |
Otters are a European protected species (EPS) and is also fully protected under schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is an offence to capture, kill, disturb or injure an otter or to damage or destroy their breeding or resting places. It is also an offence to obstruct access to their resting or sheltering places (deliberately or by not taking enough care).
Northern Gas Networks (NGN) advise that there may be apparatus in the area that may be at risk during construction works and the promoter of these works to contact NGN directly to discuss our requirements in detail.
It is recommended that the applicant contact Northumbrian Water Ltd. to discuss this proposal further. Additional information and contact details can be found at https://www.nwl.co.uk/business/trade-effluent.aspx.
The installation of the leachate pipework is, in effect, an extension of the existing Environmental Permit site boundary at Carlin Howe Farm, as the leachate within the pipe will continue to be the responsibility of the site operator and could pose a pollution risk. Therefore, the site operator will need to apply to the Environment Agency to vary their existing Environmental Permit in order to include the leachate pipe within the permit. We request that the site operator contact the local Environment Agency office at: NE-Waste@environment-agency.gov.uk to discuss the variation to the existing permit.
