| 5 | INFORMATIVE NOTE: The Environment Agency have made the following comment: The developer should be aware that the NWL Bran Sands Effluent Treatment site is located on top of phase 1 of the ICI Chemicals & Polymers Ltd (now Azkonobel) landfill site (Environmental Permit Number EAWML 60092). This landfill accepted a variety of wastes between 1977 and 2007 and is known to be generating landfill gas. The NWL installation is constructed on an engineered barrier between the wastes and the site infrastructure, with all piling through this barrier made gas tight to prevent the ingress of potentially explosive landfill gas. Any new construction should take the necessity to maintain this gas barrier into account at the planning stage. Note: Neither the Environment Agency or the Council's Environmental Protection have advised conditions with regard to this matter. |
