# Condition Details
1 REASON FOR DECISION: The planning application submitted seeks consent for the retention of exterior painted render which has been applied to the front elevation of the building. In arriving at a decision it is noted the works have resulted in the physical removal, or covering with render, of original architectural details on the building which dates from the Victorian period. The property is located within the Saltburn Conservation Area in a locality known as the Jewel Streets, one of the oldest parts of Saltburn and it is considered that the works carried out adversely affect the character and appearance of the property and detract from character and appearance the of the Saltburn Conservation Area. The works carried out are therefore considered to be in conflict with policy CS1 (Securing a Better Quality of Life) CS6 (Spatial Strategy for East Cleveland and the Villages) CS20 (Promoting Good Design) and CS25 (Built and Historic Environment) of the adopted Core Strategy DPD July 2007 and Policy DP3 (Sustainable Design) and DP9 (Conservation Areas) of the Development Policies DPD July 2007
