| 5 | (5) All new bricks relating to the supporting wall are to match the original brickwork in dimensions, colour and texture. Samples of the new replacement bricks shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority prior to the commencement of the approved works. | 6 | (6) Details of the extent of repairs to and/or replacement of the internal armature, shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority prior to the commencement of the approved works which shall not be undertaken except in accordance with the approved details. | 7 | (7) A fully detailed statement providing clear justification for the straightening of the statue by removing its present lean, should be submitted to and approved in writing by the local planning authority prior to the commencement of the approved works. | 8 | (8) The surface of the leadwork on the Statue of Justice shall be carefully inspected for traces of paintwork, any paint found is to be fully analysed and recorded and a written and illustrated copy of the inspection and analysis are to be deposited with the Local Planning Authority and Teesside Archive. REASON: To ensure the protection and preservation of the special character and integrity of the special architectural or historic interest of the heritage asset. |
| 9 | (9) Details of the method of cleaning the surface of the leadwork of the statue shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority prior to the commencement of the approved works which shall not be undertaken except in accordance with the approved details. REASON: To ensure the protection and preservation of the special character and integrity of the special architectural or historic interest of the heritage asset. |
| 10 | (10) Details of the final finish of the surface of the statue, including painting and/or other protective finishes, shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority prior to the commencement of the approved works which shall not be undertaken except in accordance with the approved details. REASON: To ensure the protection and preservation of the special character and integrity of the special architectural or historic interest of the heritage asset. |
| 11 | REASON FOR DECISION: The proposed development will preserve the special character and setting of this Listed Building. The proposal therefore complies with Policies CS25 and DP10 of the Council’s Development Plan. |
