| 1 | (1) All external or backlit light sources shall be shielded or louvered to prevent glare or lights shining into motorists or pedestrian’s eyes. For externally illuminated signs, the light shall come from immediately above the sign and shall be directly focused onto the sign itself. REASON: In the interests of public amenity and highway safety. |
| 2 | (2) Sign lighting shall not leave bare bulbs visible to the public eye. Shielding and glare elimination shall be accomplished with architectural elements, landscaping and specific built-in lighting devices such as shields and louvers. REASON: In the interests of public amenity and highway safety. |
| 3 | (3) Luminance of both the new signs should not exceed 800cd/m2. A manufacturers certificate of compliance will be required on completion of installation and prior to the illuminated signs being brought into use. REASON: In the interests of public amenity and highway safety. |
| 4 | REASON FOR DECISION: The proposed development is considered to be appropriate within this existing commercial centre. It would not have an adverse impact on the character and amenity of the area. The application does not raise any issues in respect of crime prevention or adversely affect highway safety. The proposal accords with the Council's adopted Development Plan. |
