Conditions table
# Condition Details
1 (1) The lighting for the sign shall not leave any bare bulbs visible to the public eye. All external or backlit light sources shall be shielded, louvered, or designed with architectural elements to prevent glare or lights shining into motorist’s or pedestrian’s eyes. REASON: In the interest of pedestrian and highway safety.
2 (2) The luminance of the sign should not exceed 800cd/m2. REASON: In the interests of pedestrian and highway safety.
3 REASON FOR DECISION: The sign is considered to be appropriate within this local shopping area. It would not have an adverse impact on the character and amenity of the area. The application does not raise any issues in respect of crime prevention or adversely affect highway safety. The proposal accords with the Councils Development Plan.
4 ADVISORY NOTES: It is requested that a manufacturer’s certificate of compliance be provided for the sign hereby approved.
5 ADVISORY NOTES: Although the sign is secured to the side of the building, it is technically located over the adopted highway and should not cause an obstruction or hindrance to users of the footway. Whilst in this instance it is considered unlikely a member of the public would be harmed by the signage in its closed position, the changing of the display within the signage cabinet should be carried out in a manner which does not cause harm or inconvenience to members of the public using the adopted highway.
6 NOTE: The following development plan policies were relevant to this decision:- Local Development Framework Policy CS20, and DP12.
