# Condition Details
1 (6) The luminance of the signs should not exceed 1000 cd/m2. REASON: In the interests of highway safety.
2 REASON FOR DECISION: Earlier this year an application for 9 no. panels was refused on the grounds that it would be detrimental to the visual amenities of the area. The scheme has now been amended and the number of panels reduced to four. Whilst these still involve additional lighting columns because the car park is currently illuminated by large multiple unit lamp columns, the reduction in number of columns means that the visual impact is significantly reduced. Furthermore the car park area is well screened from the Trunk Road and therefore most of the columns would not be visible over a wide area. Consider it would be difficult to resist the reduced scheme.
3 NOTE: Redcar and Cleveland Local Plan Policies GEN1, GEN2 and ENV19 were relevant to this decision.
