| 3 | REASON FOR DECISION: The application is an outline application for the erection of a children’s centre at Huntcliffe School site, Saltburn. The proposed building will be positioned to the north of the existing school and immediately to the rear of the caretaker’s bungalow. Its position takes account of longer term proposals to redevelop the school site. The centre would incorporate a day-nursery and training centre/one-stop shop for families with pre-school children in line with current government initiatives. Car parking for the centre together with an outdoor play area would be provided to the rear of the building. Replacement parking for the school would be provided at the front of the existing school. The position of the building is such that it will not affect the visual amenities of residents on Marske Mill Lane. The main concern relates to problems of on-street parking which exist at the present time when pupils start and finish school each day. The proposal does however incorporate additional on-site parking for the new children’s centre together with replacement parking for the school. Whilst the replacement parking is at the front of the school, there is no other suitable alternative location. The car park should be landscaped to achieve a satisfactory appearance along Marske Mill Lane. |
